Cris Cyborg has been on shaky ground in terms of her future in the UFC. Over the past year, she has been mentioning a possible stint in Bellator, as well as taking a few boxing matches.
Her UFC contract may be expiring next month but the former women’s featherweight champion will be staying put, at least according to her boxing coach Jason Parillo. This was concurred by her manager Audie Attar.
“The hopes are we can get a new deal done with the UFC, but time will tell on whether that is achievable or not,” Attar told ESPN. “We haven’t received any official fight offer but she would love to fight in her hometown. We’ve had some soft discussions about her next fight and her future. She’d love to fight for the UFC.
”Cris Cyborg is one of the biggest draws in MMA. And that is fact. Even in that last fight, she went in there and didn’t fight her fight and got caught, but it was still exciting to watch.”
From her end, Cyborg is interested in taking fights in the UFC, which she intends to be either a rematch against Amanda Nunez, or to fight Megan Anderson at UFC 237 this May in her home country of Brazil.
