Engkwentro Sa Talibon Bohol: Sabalde vs Magos March 2 for VISPROBA 130 Belt

Engkwentro Sa Talibon Bohol

By Carlos Costa

Talibon, the charming seaside town in northern Bohol  —   proud of being the birthplace of former Philippines President Carlos P. Garcia as well as the cradle of WBA Super Champion Nonito Donaire  —  can gear up for thrilling professional boxing this coming Saturday (March 2) at San Jose Basketball Court in Barangay San Jose, just across the Barangay Hall.

In the hot main event, Jimdomar Boxing fighter Anthony “Zorro” Sabalde (12-8, 7 KO’s), a tough, lion heart gladiator from Dogohoy, Bohol, battles it out against Romnick “Daredevil” Magos (12-7, 7 KO’s) of Mandaue City in an eight-round clash for the vacant VISPROBA Super Featherweight Title, an exciting, well-matched rumble that no boxing fan in Talibon can afford to miss.

Co-feature: John Kennan Villaflor vs. Anthony Galigao

In the co-feature, coming-forward warrior John Kennan Villaflor (7-5-3, 2 KO’s) of Valle Hermoso in Negros Oriental climbs the square ring to kombat brave Boholano Anthony Galigao (8-12, 3 KO’s) of Candijay, Bohol.   Their rumble in an 8-chapter saga in the bantamweight division.

MORE BOHOL FIGHTERS IN ACTION IN TALIBON

105-Pounder Roland Sasan of Bohol

Moreover, tough minimumweight fighter Roland Sasan (6-1, 3 KO’s) of Carmen, Bohol, squares off more-experienced Ryan Makiputin (13-15-2, 4 KO’s) of Valencia City, Bukidnon.   Their collision is an eight-stanza war in the 105 pound weight class.

Flyweight Robert Awitin

In super flyweights, southpaw tactician Robert Awitin (11-26-2, 9 KO’s) of Anda, Bohol takes on Belmar Plaza (3-10-3, 1 KO) of Cebu in a six-round melee that promises non-stop action.

The opening bout of the show is between two brave Boholano boxers:  19-year-old local Talibon hero-boy Jimmybie Cais (1-0, 0 KO’s) makes his second pro fight against fellow Bohol native Roga Libres (3-13, 0 KO’s) of nearby Ubay.

The 26 year-old Libres appears to be much more experienced than Jimmybie Cais for this 4-stanza battle in the 105-lbs division, but Jimmybie is a tough nut to crack.

Will local kid Jimmybie Cais dominate the matured Roga Libres with better boxing skills and power?    Or will the Ubay combatant be too savvy and skilled for the brave rookie?    You have to be there to know!

Engkwentro Sa Talibon at San Jose Basketball Court is a production of Bohol promoter Edgar Lacierda Ricafort of Jimdomar Boxing, in coordination with Hon. Restituto B. Auxtero, Municipal Mayor of Talibon, Bohol.

“This boxing show is part of the fun activities in celebration of the Barangay fiesta of Barangay San Jose in Talibon in northern Bohol,” says promoter Ricafort, “and I am happy to be part.”

“I do this show because boxing is my passion, both amateur and professional, and I want to help Boholano fighters,” adds the veteran man of boxing.

“I dream that some day one Boholano fighter will become a world champion bearing my name and my boxing stable name, Jimdomar,” shares the positive Ricafort, while inviting Bohol fans to come over to Barangay San Jose Basketball Court in Talibon this Saturday to be thrilled with awesome professional boxing.

Admission is 100 pesos.

Fights start at 7 PM
