You may recall that India’s Vijender Singh signed with Top Rank late last year, with promoter Bob Arum turning his eye toward potentially making a big money impact in Singh’s home country.
Singh (10-0, 7 KO), however, hasn’t fought since Dec. 2017, and at 33, he isn’t getting any younger as a prospect in the pro ranks. But there has been talk of Singh fighting on the Crawford-Khan card on April 20, and the fighter tweeted out a photo of himself working with Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach on Wednesday:

Singh has talked in the past about facing the likes of Amir Khan or Canelo Alvarez, but the biggest name he’s taken on as a professional to this point is Kerry Hope.
Singh, a super middleweight, was a very good amateur fighter, winning bronze at the 2008 Olympics and competing again at the Olympics in 2012. That said, we’re talking almost 11 years ago that he won a medal, and almost seven years ago that he had his last Olympic appearance. He turned pro in 2015. Signing with Top Rank does, in theory, up his chances of getting a big fight, but we’ll have to wait and see what everyone’s real ambitions there are going to wind up being.
