Saturday’s boxing card taking place almost 400 feet underground inside the famous Wieliczka Salt Mine in Wieliczka, Poland, featured eight rounds of heavy hits in the heavyweight main event and an easy job in the featherweight co-main event. This was the eighth edition of the one-of-a-kind “Underground Boxing Show.”

The heavyweight bout between Krzysztof Zimnoch (20-1, 13 KOs and Marcin Rekowski (17-4, 14 KOs) was an entertaining scrap with both fighters not avoiding heavy hits and give fans something to cheer for. Zimnoch, more skilled than the physically stronger Rekowski, was faster, scoring at will with his jab, but was in danger any time Rekowski decided to launch an attack. Although judges gave Zimnoch only a split decision, Fightnews.com unanimously scored this fight for the fighter from Białystok.

If everything goes according to the plans of Zimnoch’s promoters Sferis KnockOut Promotions/Babilon Promotions, the Polish fighter will have a chance in February 2017 to avenge his only career loss – last year’s first round KO by Chicagoan Mike Mollo (21-6, 13 KOs).

In the featherweight co-main event, #3 WBO ranked Kamil Łaszczyk (23-0, 8 KOs) had no problems. With his skills and speed Łaszczyk won every round against game but in the end overmatched Piotr Gudel.
