UFC 207 recently added a second title fight, this one taking place in the men’s bantamweight division. After months of bickering between the two men, champion Dominick Cruz will officially defend his title against Cody Garbrandt on the December 30th event in Las Vegas. With new fight bookings comes new fight booking lines, and one book (Sportsbook) has already jumped on this bout:
Cruz -220
Garbrandt +177
The line actually opened a little closer, but clearly some early money has come in on the current champion. That is significantly closer than the original line between Cruz and Urijah Faber, Garbrandt’s teammate and the last title contender. Cruz was a solid -600 for that one originally. He ended up winning that bout by wide unanimous decision.
Garbrandt (10-0, 5-0 UFC) is coming off a TKO win over Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 202. It was his third straight TKO win overall in the UFC.
Is Garbrandt worth betting on as an underdog here? Will the line move further in Cruz’s direction? I personally would consider a bet on Cruz at that price, but not if he went any higher.
