Beneil Dariush willing to take a stand against trash-talking in MMA

UFC lightweight fighter Beneil Dariush picked up his second straight win on Saturday night via submission against Drew Dober. After the fight ended, the two exchanged compliments and expressed how refreshing it was to have mutual respect for each other as opponents, for a change.

During his post-fight media scrum, Dariush was asked if he was willing to take a stand against the current trash-talking era in MMA, which said he would do so “100%.”

“When it comes to competition, when it comes to fighting, I’m as savage as you’re gonna get,” Dariush said. “I’m OK with hitting you, I’m OK with getting hit, I’m OK with cuts, broken leg, broken nose – I’ve broken my nose five, six times – but I don’t need to verbally assault somebody. I don’t need to say anything bad about somebody.

“If you feel the necessity to do that – maybe you’re hoping to hype up the fight, hoping for more money – whatever it is,” he continued. “If you think it’s worth selling yourself out, go for it. But I’m not selling myself out so I can make a little more money. I’m not selling my character out for that.”

Dariush bagged an extra $50,000 for Performance of the Night, as he now holds a win-loss slate of 16-4-1, with 10 wins by stoppage.
