Orthodox Adam Diu “Big Daddy” Abdulhamid of General Santos City will go to Japan to challenge Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation welterweight champion Ryota Toroshima on August 6 in Tokyo.

The 27-year-old Abdulhamid will leave together with his manager Dexter Tan and trainer Ken Salvania on August 3.

“I’m ready to fight already. Right now I’m still 155 pounds,” said Abdulhamid, who will fight at 147.

He will spar again on Friday against Jhunrick “Shotgun” Carcedo (8-1-0, 8KOs) and Harmonito dela Torre (22-4-0,14KOs).

Abdulhamid, who has 17 wins, 10 loses with nine knockouts, recently lost to undefeated Vitaly Petryakov of Russian by a technical knockout in the 6th round last March 19, 2022 at USC Soviet Wings in Moscow.

Toyoshima, on the other hand, will defend his title for the 3rd time.

He first defended it against compatriot Yuki Beppu by a 10th round knockout last May 20, 2021 at Korakuen Hall.

Toyoshima then defeated Shoki Sakai by a unanimous decision for his 2nd defense last December 4, 2021 at Korakuen Hall.
