THE president of the ASEAN Boxing Federation (ABF) visited the country to arrange a possible title fight in the coming 3rd GAB Philippine Boxing Convention on May 12 in Davao City.
Naris Singwancha, who is also a well-known boxing patron from Thailand, met with Filipino boxing promoters and managers in Manila to discuss the ABF championship fight.
“We will put up an ABF title fight in the convention in Davao,” said international promoter-manager Brico Santig of Highland Promotions.
The ABF title fight was supposed to be held last April 15 in Manila but was cancelled because of the non-availability of the ring officials due to the observance of the Holy Week.
Singwancha also visited the MP Highland Boxing Gym along Morayta St. in Manila. He also met former IBO world light flyweight champion Rey “Hitman” Loreto, who is one of the Filipino boxers that Singwancha is also supporting.
Singwancha is a former WBC Asia Promoter of the Year and has promoted not only in Thailand but also in the Philippines.
He was given an award when Thailand hosted the annual World Boxing Council Convention.
He was able to produce Thailand’s world bantamweight champion Sirimongkol Singwancha, interim WBC World light flyweight champion and WBO Asia Pacific flyweight champion Wandee Singwancha, world super flyweight champion Denkaosan Singwancha, WBC International super lightweight champion Prawet Singwancha and many more.
Singwancha is also a supporter of Filipino promoters Wakee Salud, Aljoe Jaro, Joven Jimenez and Brico Santig.
He is a regular sponsor of the annual Gabriel “The Flash” Elorde Memorial Awards in Manila.
He supported Marlon Tapales until he became the WBO world bantamweight champion.
Singwancha also gave each of the Filipino boxers from Leyte, who were victims of the super typhoon Yolanda a financial help of US$500 dollars.
“Talagang mabait na tao si Naris,” said Santig.
Singwancha even gave a financial help to Loreto after learning that the former world champion from Davao City until now has not yet received his P2 million purse from the South African boxing promoter.
Singwancha has also put up a house for the boxers in Cebu.
“I just want to help boxing because I love the sport,” said Singwancha.
