ACTUB WINS PH FEMALE SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT CROWN

ILIGAN City (Oct. 15) – Crowd-favorite Kim “Bonecrusher” Actub landed solid punches to stop her arch-rival Joan Ambalong of Zamboanga in the 6th round to capture the vacant Philippine female super bantamweight title on Sunday night at the Robinson’s Place here.
Actub, who is also the reigning …..dominated the 6-rounder title-fight since the opening round with her sharp jabs and combinations.
Referee Marvin Artes of Aurora, Lanao del Norte finally stopped the fight in 1:05 of the 6th and final round.
Actub now has six wins with five knockouts against eight losses and one draw while Ambalong suffered her 7th defeat with six wins and one draw.
It was actually the 5th encounter by Actub and Ambalong.
The 24-year old Actub won their last fight via a 2nd round technical knockout last Dec. 20 in Dipolog City.
Actub also beat Ambalong by a unanimous decision in their first meeting on April 8, 2014. But they only settled a technical draw in the 1st round during their second bout held August 6, 2014 in Iligan.
In their third encounter, Ambalong stopped Actub by a 3rd round technical knockout on Nov. 22, 2015 at the Central Market Gym in Barangay Poblacion, Iligan.
Actub, however, bounced back in their rematch by scoring a 2nd round TKO on December 20, 2016 at Barangay Olingan, Dipolog City.
“Nalipay dyud ko kay naka daug na pud ko. Naga pasalamat ko sa akong mga manager, promoter ug trainers sa RCJ Promotions,” said Actub, who previously captured the vacant Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA) World super bantamweight title by knocking out Ye Byul Lee in the 3rd round last June 24 at the Palma Gym in Suncheon, South Korea.
Actub also fought but lost to Japanese Ayumi Goto by a unanimous decision in their battle for the vacant OPBF female super bantamweight crown on March 15 at the Korakuen Hall, Japan.
“Na-develop dyud ni Kim ang iyang power,” (Kim has really developed already her power) said trainer Ronnie Rosales.
