Former multiple champion Juan Manuel Márquez officially ended his glittering powder keg career, via his ESPN television show, “GOLPE A GOLPE”.
“This hurts, but everything has a beginning and an end and we have to accept it, with the pain of my soul and heart, but this is so … it’s the right moment to say goodbye,” said Marquez.
“I announced my retirement today so that I can not return. Now, there are other challenges that we have to face,” said the future Hall of famer in his message.
He made it clear that the injuries he suffered, one in the knee and then one in the left shoulder, were decisive factors in his timely decision.
Márquez leaves boxing with 24 years of career which saw 56 victories, 40 KOS, 7 losses and a draw. He became WBC super featherweight champion, defeating Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera in a great fight.
The World Boxing Council wishes Juan Manuel great success in his future plans, which will surely lead to tremendous success.
