Adonis Stevenson vs. Eleider Alvarez (finally) “in the works”(finally) “in the works”

By Badlefthook.com

Alvarez has been Stevenson’s mandatory for almost two years

Okay, FOR REAL this time.

Eleider Alvarez has been the mandatory challenger for Adonis Stevenson’s WBC title for nearly two years. Stevenson has not fought a mandatory challenger since tearing up Tony Bellew in 2013. Both of those situations will apparently be rectified in the near future, as promoter Yvon Michel confirmed that the two were in negotiations for “a December date in Quebec City.”

Alvarez (23-0, 11 KO) scraped past Isaac Chilemba for the mandatory spot, which is probably still his best win. His 4-0 run since is anchored by a knockout of Lucian Bute and a decision over Jean Pascal that was much, much more one-sided than a 114-114 scorecard would suggest.

Stevenson (29-1, 24 KO) started his reign fairly strong, fighting and beating Tavoris Cloud, Bellew, and Andrzej Fonfara after his surprise knockout of Chad Dawson. It’s been kinda crap since, featuring the likes of Sakio Bika (a super middleweight coming off a loss) and Tommy Karpency.

He just turned 40. Time management is not his forte.

Any predictions for the fight WE’VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR?
