The felony assault and aggravated robbery charges against Adrien Broner have been dropped after the alleged victim failed to show up to the trial, which was set to begin today in Cincinnati.
The witness has failed show up three times now, according to the prosecutor for the case, and police have failed to locate him in “multiple” attempts to serve a subpoena, according to ESPN.com.
The charges were brought up in March of this year, when the alleged victim accused Broner of assault and robbery for an incident outside of a bowling alley in Cincinnati, after the two allegedly had been gambling on games.
In June, a civil lawsuit by the alleged victim was dropped.
Broner (32-2, 24 KO) last fought on April 1, beating Ashley Theophane in Washington, DC. He was allowed to box despite two outstanding felony warrants in Ohio. The 27-year-old will likely fight again by the end of 2016, but has nothing currently scheduled.
