Four-division world champion Cincinnati’s Adrien “The Problem” Broner (33-2, 24 KOs) is set to take on three-division world champion Mikey Garcia (36-0, 30 KOs) of Moreno Valley by way of Oxnard on Saturday July 29 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York live on Showtime Championship Boxing on Showtime. Fightnews.com caught up with the “Problem” as he talked about his upcoming fight with Garcia.

“I am feeling good. I’m taking this fight serious. I want to show that I am still one of the best,” Adrien Broner told Fightnews.com “This is just a time for me to step up,” Broner added.

Broner is coming off a razor thin decision over Adrian Granados in what was a tough fight for him this past February in his hometown of Cincinnati.

“I don’t know if any of you have ever had a broken hand but just to give you an idea what I was up against,” Broner said.

Prior to that fight Broner has been involved with issues outside the ring. Last year in April, Broner was arrested for reckless driving. Followed by an assault charge stemming from a bowling alley bet gone bad which was later dropped by the accuser. Broner was also accused of choking a waitress at Drai’s night club in Las Vegas.

“Most of you don’t really care about me. You are all just nosy. The only people who care about me are my mother, father, and children,” Broner said. “I am more focused on boxing now,” Broner added.

Broner now looks to redeem himself and put those issues in the past as he now sets his focus on Garcia.

“I ain’t playing no more I am taking this fight serious,”

For his opponent Mikey Garcia he has scored two consecutive knockouts since returning to the ring after a 2 year layoff. Scoring knockouts over Elio Rojas and in his last fight knocked out previously undefeated Dejan Zlaticanin, winning the WBC lightweight title.

“Listen the guys he has been punching have been 135 and down. I would like to see what would happen if I hit one those guys. Lets think about this give me all 36 of his opponents and then give him all of my opponents. I know I would be 36-0, with 36 knockouts,” Broner on Garcia “I heard people saying that he hits harder than this person or that person,”

Coming into this fight Broner is a 5 to 1 betting underdog as he did not take that too well.

“5 to 1. Shit!” Broner surprisingly said and followed up with his prediction. “I will fuck him up.”

Next stop for Broner will be Colorado Springs as he will begin his preparation for Garcia. Broner has began to train but will seclude himself and be away from the distractions which have plagued him in recent years.

“I am comfortable here in Colorado we put in some good work. There are guys that I have been sparring this camp that are undefeated,”

Broner vs. Garcia will be a scheduled 12 round super lightweight bout as it will headline the Showtime Championship Boxing telecast.

“I have to do, what I have to do, to get that victory. July 29th I will be victorious,” Broner said. “It’s time to go to a different level. This is one those, I told you so,” Broner,”
