Agent: Cyborg vs. Holm fight at UFC 219 ‘dead’

The highly-anticipated Cris “Cyborg” Justino vs. Holly Holm fight is off the table for now.

According to Holm’s agent, Lenny Fresquez, the women’s featherweight title fight, which had been proposed for UFC 219 on Dec. 30 in Las Vegas, is “dead” as of earlier this week.

“Holly was anxiously awaiting the Dec. 30 fight with Cyborg,” Fresquez said, “and had been training for it. But we could not come to financial terms for this featherweight title bout in December. We look forward to meeting her under the right circumstances.”

According to sources, Justino is still hopeful to remain on the card, though her opponent is unknown at this time.

Justino won the vacant title in July when she defeated Tonya Evinger at UFC 214, while Holm snapped a three-fight losing streak in June with a knockout of Bethe Correia. They are arguably the two most popular female fighters in the UFC.

The pair have been going back and forth on social media recently over drug-testing issues, which no doubt increased interest in the fight, but for now, according to Team Holm it’s not happening anymore.
