Sink or swim, as part of the gripping World Boxing Super Series Tournament, this Saturday, when top-ranked Briton, Chris Eubank Jr. (25-1, 19 KOs) and Turkish Avni Yildirim (16-0, 10 KOs) clash in the quarter-finals stage in Germany.
Chris’ Dad of the same name and a great former world champion in his own right, helped and advised him to select Yildirim as his quarterfinal opponent during the Gala Ceremony, held on July 8 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
Yildirim, even though he’s not considered as the favorite, claims to be fortunate to have the opportunity to face one of the best super middleweight fighters in the world to prove he’s got what it takes to conquer the Tournament and the Muhammad Ali Trophy.
Chris Eubank Jr:
“The warship has docked fully equipped, fully loaded and all the artillery is pointing at Yildirim,” So says the 28-year-old third seed in the Ali Trophy super-middleweight tournament.
“So you are coming with all your weapons,” said 26-year-old Avni Yildirim, adding: “Don’t forget the first world war when everybody was after the Turks and couldn’t do it. “
