AJ Paciones, with Passion in a Quest for Boxing Glory, Ready to Defend WBA Asia Belt Dec 28 in Thailand
By Fightnews Asia
Young Filipino Light Flyweight AJ Paciones (6-0, 4 KO’s), son of former warrior Do Dong Paciones, not only has boxing in his genes and blood, but also in his heart, striving with passion and sweat in a daily quest for boxing glory.
In walking the walk, the promising 18-year-old Pinoy, living in Vietnam, is set to defend his regional WBA Asia Light Flyweight Title on Thursday, December 28, in Thailand.
It is an important rumble at this moment of his young career. The unbeaten AJ understands that, for which he has been training extra hard under the guidance of his coach/dad Do Dong Paciones.
Promoted by Vietnam’s Shadow Entertainment – which is the most important promotional outfit in Vietnam – AJ Paciones, together with coach Do Dong and their team feel more than ready for Hwebes’ battle.
AJ’s defense will be against more-experienced Kitidech Hirunsuk of Thailand, a fearless man of battle, former muay Thai combatant who has waged 16 pro boxing fights, including 11 wins, 5 setbacks, 6 of those wins by way of KO, a record that includes fights in Thailand, Vietnam, as well as a number of wars in Japan.
That is why preparations for fighting and defeating Kitidech have been on their way for weeks.
Yes, standing 5′ 7 ½″, AJ Paciones and his team have been working on a game-plan for besting the strong 21-year-old coming-forward Kitidech, a fearles Thai who wants more than anything else AJ’s head.
Will he get it?
Will the dreams of the pogi AJ Paciones – the optimistic Pinoy kid with dreams of glory – be broken?
Or will AJ’s precise jab and straights blows, hooks and combinations to the head and body lead him to victory against the Thailander, perhaps even by KO?
DO DONG TELLS US:
“We have been training hard here in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.
“We expect a good fight,” says father/coach Do Dong, who during his years of fights, waged a number of tough wars in Thailand, learning valuable insights on Thai pro boxing styles.
“The key is to keep focus at all times, and believe in ourselves. There could be moments in the fight when things could be rough and difficult. If so, we can go thru them. We can handle. And we are going to find the way to win,” expressed Do Dong, a committed father and experienced coach who has spent his whole life immersed in boxing and other combat sports.
“I want my son to be better than me,” he said to Philboxing, the Filipino Boxing Portal.
Cheerful, yet lethal, AJ has a lot of his old man’s personality in him, having 100% commitment to boxing is one of them.
AJ PACIONES TELLS US
“I’ve been training so hard for this fight. Because this an important fight in my career, and my first defense of my WBA ASIA Light Flyweight title too.
“But, when I have time, I read and watch boxing. I like Boots Ennis, Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney.
“My favorite Pinoy fighter is my dad and my granpa too. They were both boxers.
“Terrence Bud Crawford is a really interesting boxer to me.
“Pero in my weight-class (108 pounds), the most exciting boxer is Japanese champion Kenshiro Teraji.
“Living in Vietnam is fun. People are nice. They are similar to kids in my country. In fact, Vietnam is my second home, and I do speak basic Vietnamese.
“I want to bring glory to our Family and to our Motherland,” is how AJ Paciones feels.
AJ Pacione’s WBA Asia title defense is one of the main title fights staged by promoter Brico Santig, head of Highland Boxing Promotions in association with Supanat Chanram and Shadow Entertainment.
