DAVAO CITY – Reigning Philippine lightweight champion Roldan “The Cobra” Aldea of Kabankalan City will fight in Papua New Guinea on April 25 at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.
He will be fighting against Junior Kauko Raka for the World Boxing Association Asia super featherweight title.
“Yung lalabanan ko na timbang doon ay 130 lbs. para sa vacant WBA Asia (The weight I will fight there is 130 lbs. for the vacant WBA Asia)” said Aldea (15W-8L-1D, 9KOs) of the Elorde International Productions.
Aldea is now working out with his sparring partner super featherweight Jhon “The Disaster” Gemino (21W-12L-1D, 11KOs).
Aldea is now maintaining his weight at 140 lbs.
“Yung training ko po tuloy tuloy kahit na my pandemic jogging sa umaga at training sa tanghali (My training will continue even with my pandemic jogging in the morning and training at noon)”, said Aldea.
He will be going to PNG together with Asian Boxing Federation middleweight champion Mark “The Slam Man” Sales with trainer Artchel Villamor and assistant Allan Vallespin.
He recently defended his title over Agusan’s Monico Laurente by retirement in the 2nd round last Feb. 1, 2020, in Paranaque City.
The bubble boxing event is presented by Oceania Fight Promotions.
