Alex Garcia will get the opportunity to compete in his adopted country of Canada for the first time as a UFC fighter.
A native of the Dominican Republic who fights out of Montreal, Garcia has been booked to fightCourt McGee in a welterweight bout at UFC Moncton on Oct. 27. The promotion announced the matchup Thursday.
Garcia, 31, has alternated wins and losses in his last eight bouts. In his most recent fight at UFC Atlantic City in April, he dropped a unanimous decision to Ryan LaFlare. Garcia holds wins overMuslim Salikhov, Mike Pyle, and Mike Swick, and a 15-5 pro record overall.
McGee (18-7) has lost three of his last four fights, including going 0-2 in 2017 with unanimous decision defeats at the hands of Sean Strickland and Ben Saunders. The 33-year-old won The Ultimate Fighter 11 as a middleweight back in 2010, but has since moved down to welterweight where he is 4-4 inside the Octagon.
UFC Fight Night 138 takes place on Oct. 27 at the Moncton Events Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick. In the main event, Volkan Oezdemir fights Anthony Smith in a light heavyweight bout.
