Alfie Price chalks up third pro win at the York Hall

Unbeaten super-lightweight prospect Alfie Price (3-0) cruised to his third pro win on September 29 on the British Warriors Boxing Promotion card at the iconic York Hall.

Alfie’s opposite number on the night came in the form of former Dutch national champion Innocent Anyanwu (25-34-3) who hasn’t been stopped in his last 10 contests.

The 39-year-old from Amsterdam won the Dutch featherweight title back in 2008 by knocking his opponent Araik Sachbazjan down four times en route to a unanimous decision victory.

This fight represented a step up for Londoner ‘Pricey’, who spoke of his desire to land a title fight in 2019, stressing the importance of challenging himself against a higher caliber of competition.

Pre-fight he stated, “I said I wanted a good opponent for this fight, I need to progress and this should be a good test of my skills”

On the night, Alfie won 60-54 on points in a tough, testing encounter in what was his first six-round contest. The former Team GB boxer landed consistently clean, eye-catching shots in every round and had the Dutchman hurt a few times during the contest.

Post-fight, the European bronze medallist said, “I felt I put in a good performance, I had him hurt in there a few times, I was working off a counter punch, but then also backing him up at times. I felt confident and I would say it was a clean win; easy work.”

Looking ahead to next year, the southpaw added, “I would like to get a title shot in 2019, perhaps a Southern Area fight, I want to stay active and keep challenging myself, another four or five fights would be ideal.”

Team Price aim to make it out once more to end the year at 4-0 at the York Hall, which is quickly becoming a fortress for his army of fans.
