A heavyweight fight between former UFC title challenger Alistair Overeem and undefeated newcomer Sergei Pavlovich is heading to Beijing.
UFC officials confirmed the matchup after an initial report from Farah Hannoun.

Overeem (43-17, 1 NC), a former Strikeforce, K-1 and DREAM champion, is looking to get back into the win column after coming up short in his two previous trips to the Octagon. Most recently, fans saw “The Reem” violently finished late in the third round at the hands of Curtis Blaydes atUFC 225 in June. Prior to this, Overeem was knocked out by former title challenger Francis Ngannou at UFC 218 in December 2017.
To date, the Dutchman’s last win came in the form of a majority decision over former championFabricio Werdum at UFC 213 in July 2017.
Pavlovich (12-0), who relinquished his Fight Nights Global heavyweight belt after signing with the UFC, has not fought since his first-round TKO win over Kirill Sidelnikov in November 2017. To date, nine of the Russian’s 12 career wins have ended in (T)KO.
