All set for Fortuna vs. Diaz

Former champion, Javier “Abejón” Fortuna (36-2-1, 25 KOs), will have an important and complicated commitment when he faces the fellow former world champion, Californian Joseph “Jo Jo” Díaz Jr. (31-1-1, 15 Koss), tomorrow, Friday, July 9, at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, with the Interim WBC Lightweight at stake.

Fortuna was originally scheduled to face Ryan Garcia, but the fight was called off when it was reported that Ryan would take some time to address some health issues. Diaz will make his 135-pound debut in this long-awaited fight.

This Thursday both fighters passed the official weigh-in of the card. Joseph Diaz registered 134.4 pounds, while Javier Fortuna weighed 134.8 pounds.
The card presented by Golden Boy Promotions will begin at 9 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on DAZN.
