The six-division champion would face Taylor late next year.
Amanda Serrano, who has won world titles in six weight classes, is chasing a fight with lightweight titleholder Katie Taylor, and has signed a three-fight deal to fight on DAZN cards, ESPN reports.
It is a co-promotional deal between Serrano’s promoter Lou DiBella and Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn, who promotes Taylor.
Serrano (35-1-1, 26 KO) has won titles at 130, 135, 126, 122, 118, and 140, in that order. She currently holds the WBO 140-pound title.
Taylor (11-0, 5 KO) has the IBF and WBA lightweight titles, and just fought on October 20. She’s expected to return on December 15 in New York, on the Canelo-Fielding card, Canelo Alvarez’s first show on DAZN in his massive new deal with the streaming service.
Serrano likely will return in January for the first of the three fights, then in the third in late 2019, face Taylor, as long as both keep winning. It’s a very intriguing potential matchup between two top talents, and could be a big one for women’s boxing.
