Amilcar Vidal Hunts Down Ortiz, Stops Him in 2 at the Staples Center

By Carlos Costa

In a quick storm, unbeaten Uruguay middleweight 🇺🇾 Amilcar Vidal (12-0, 11 KO’s) displayed exciting and lethal firepower stopping Texan 🇺🇸 Edward “The Hunter” Ortiz (11-1-2, 4 KO’s) in two rounds in the main event tonight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles live on FS1.

The tough ending unfolded as the protege of promoter Sampson Lewkowicz landed a long crushing right over the back-pedaling  Ortiz, rocking and propelling him against the ropes near a neutral corner where the Montevideo-native unleashed a thrilling barrage of damaging hooks and uppercuts that forced the third man to stop the ravaging attack, freeing “The Hunter” Ortiz of additional punishment.

Official time of stoppage was 1:58 in chapter 2.

After his win, Amilcar Vidal shared on FS1 that he was confident that he was going claim a stoppage win, and that he did in emphatic fashion in his first headlining role in the U.S.
