Amir Khan: I’m letting my skills win fights from now on

Amir Khan returns to the ring this Saturday for the first time since his 2016 knockout loss to Canelo Alvarez, and despite a long break off a devastating defeat, he sounds confident that he’ll get the better of Phil Lo Greco, and says that he’s changed his approach because of his last bout.

“In training I feel better than ever and the way sparring has gone, I’m a little bit more wary, I’m a bit smarter now, I’m letting my skills win me rounds in sparring. I’m letting my skills from now on win me fights. Me having that knockout against Canelo made me a serious fighter, a fighter who wants to make things better and finish on a high.”

Khan, 31, had won five straight fights before losing to Canelo, and sounds like he’s going back to the approach that saw him comfortably defeat Luis Collazo and Devon Alexander in 2014, two of Khan’s more dominant, impressive performances.

But we’ll just have to wait and see how Khan (31-4, 19 KO) does after the long layoff, coming off a bad loss, fighting with pressure on him once again. He has to look good here, and he has to win, or there’s really nowhere else for him to go in boxing.
