Amir Khan plans for three fights next year

Amir Khan expects to return to action next January with an eye on three fights in 2017.

Amir Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) hasn’t fought since getting sparked by Canelo Alvarez back in May, but he now reveals his plan to sit out the rest of the year and return to welterweight at the top of 2017 where he’d like to take three fights.

This is a pretty ambitious plan for Khan considering he’ll have only fought only once in 2016, once in 2015, and twice in 2014. In fact, Khan hasn’t fought three times in a calendar year since 2011 when he took on Paul McCloskey, Zab Judah, and Lamont Peterson in succession.

That aside, Khan does make for pretty entertaining fights so I’m certainly up for him keeping a busy schedule.

So looking ahead to what might be in store or Khan, he certainly has a few options. Khan remains the mandatory challenger for the WBC welterweight title currently held by Danny Garcia, so a rematch with Garcia is certainly viable. There’s also that lingering beef with fellow countryman Kell Brook which may finally materialize into a big domestic showdown at some point. And, you know, Khan has also been yearning for a shot at Manny Pacquiao for quite a while now, so perhaps that could be in the cards as well.

But let’s say you, the fans, got to choose three fights at 147 for Khan. Who would you like to see him take on?
