FILIPINO boxer Czar “Czar of Bohol” Amonsot scored a 7th round technical knockout against Yutthapol Sudnongbua of Thailand to retain his interim WBA Oceania super lightweight title last Nov. 25 at The Melbourne Pavilion in Flemington, Victoria, Australia.
The 31-year old Amonsot stopped his Thai challenger in 1:37 of the 7th round for his 21st knockout victory in 33 wins against only three losses and three draws.
It was only the first defeat for 30-year old Sudnongbua after 23 straight wins and no draw. It was also the first title-defense by Amonsot, who won it via a 3rd round knockout on Christian Ariel Lopez last August 3 in Melbourne.
The 5-foot-7 native of Tagbilaran City also retained both his PABA super lightweight and WBA Pan African super lightweight crowns last March 18 by stopping Geisler AP via a 2nd round TKO at The Melbourne Pavillion.
Amonsot, who is now based in Victoria, Australia won the vacant PABA super lightweight title by knocking out Steven Wills in the 3rd round on September 12, 2013 in Victoria.
Amonsot is also a former Australian super lightweight, WBO Oriental super lightweight, WBO Asia Pacific lightweight, WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight and Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) featherweight champion.
Amonsot also fought but lost to Michael Katsidis by a unanimous decision for the interim WBO world lightweight crown last July 21, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
His next fight against a still unknown opponent is already scheduled on March 3 also at The Melbourne Pavillion.
