REIGNING Filipino world champion Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas and his Irish challenger Jamie “The Mexican” Conlan both made their weights today (Nov. 17) for their much-awaited title fight on Nov. 18 at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK.
Both of them tipped the scales at identical 122 lbs.
“Pinakain ko agad si Jerwin ng nilagang baka at kanin upang lumakas agad,” said manager-trainer Joven Jimenez in a Facebook message.
Jimenez earlier told Fight News Asia that Ancajas is already excited and ready to fight the 31-year old Conlan, who is still unbeaten with 19 straight wins and 11 knockouts.
Ancajas is making his third title-defense. He captured the International Boxing Federation (IBF) world super bantamweight title by dethroning McJoe Arroyo of Puerto Rico via a convincing unanimous decision at the Jurado Hall of the Philippine Navy Camp in Taguig City last year.
Team Ancajas arrived early in Belfast last Nov. 11 to acclimatize.
