FILIPINO world champion Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas is now ready to defend his IBF World super flyweight title against Japanese challenger Teiru Kinoshita in the main supporting bout of the
“Battle in Brisbane” on July 2 at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
“He’s now ready 100 percent to fight,” said chief trainer and manager Joven Jimenez in a chat message on Facebook.
“I have no problem on Ancajas because he is a well-disciplined boxer,” said Jimenez.
After one week from his fight in Macao, Ancajas had immediately got back to training at the Marty Elorde Gym in Imus, Cavite. Ancajas has sparred with Jerald Deniega and Joepher Montano.
“He had a long and well-prepared training that’s why we also don’t have a problem on his weight,” said Jimenez.
Ancajas now already only weights 116 lbs,, just one pound over the 115 lbs.
“We’re now only conditioning his body and maintaining his weight,” said Jimenez.
But Team Ancajas is not taking the Japanese challenger lightly.
“Magaling at matibay ang kalaban,” said Jimenez.
Kinoshita, a former Japanese super flyweight champion fought but lost by a unanimous decision to Zolani Tete of South Africa in their battle for the vacant IBF world super flyweight crown in 2014 in Japan.
But Kinoshita came back strong by winning all his next six fights including five knockouts.
Ancajas captured his world title by dethroning McJoe Arroyo via a unanimous decision on September 3 in Manila. He retained it by stopping Jose Alfredo Rodriguez in the 7th round last January 29 in Macao.
