ANCAJAS RESUMES TRAINING IN PANABO GYM

DAVAO CITY (PNA) Aug. 13 – Undisputed International Boxing Federation (IBF) World junior bantamweight champion Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas of the Philippines has already resumed his training at the gym which he first started as an amateur boxer in Panabo City.
Ancajas, who is currently visiting his hometown with his family, has been keeping himself busy at the Barangay Una Boxing Gym; of Panabo Representative Tonyboy Floirendo.
“Na-miss ko rin ang dating gym at mga kasamahan ko dito sa Panabo,” said the 25-year old Ancajas, whose next defense is a mandatory to face the no. 1 contender, which will be disputed by two Filipino boxers.
IBF Championship Chairman Lindsey Tucker has already given a formal sanction approval for the IBF bantamweight eliminator for no. 1 between Johnriel Casimero and Jonas Sultan set on September 16 at the Cebu Waterfront Insular Hotel in Cebu City.
Ancajas has welcomed the mandatory of IBF which is very race in the Philippines.
“Okay lang po sa akin kung kapwa ko Pinoy din ang makakalaban ko sa next fight ko,” (It’s okay for me it I will be fighting against a fellow Filipino in my next fight) said Ancajas, who was recently given a heroes’ welcome in Panabo and Tadeco Banana Plantation.
Ancajas (27 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw, 18 KOs), previously stopped Japanese challenger Teiru Kinoshita by a 7th round technical knockout in his last title defense held last July 2 at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
It was his second title defense of the crown he won by dethroning McJoe Arroyo a unanimous decision on September 3, 2016 at the Jurado Hall of the Philippine Marine Corp in Barangay Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City.
Ancajas retained it in his first defense by stopping Mexican Jose Alfredo Rodriguez in the 7th round last January 29 at Cotai Arena in Venetian Resort, Macao.
Ancajas will still pass by General Santos City to visit his mother before flying back to Manila to resume his training under trainer-manager Joven Jimenez at the Elorde Gym in Cavite.
