The UFC was forced to find new opponents for Andrew Sanchez and Luis Henrique after their original opponents withdrew from upcoming events, sources confirmed following reports by Combate.
Sanchez, who was slated to face jiu-jitsu world champion Antonio Braga Neto at UFC Lincoln on Aug. 25, now takes on Markus Perez. Sanchez (9-4) attempts to get back on track after losses to Anthony Smith and Ryan Janes, while Perez (10-1) looks to get his momentum going after a first-round win over James Bochnovic in May.
UFC Lincoln takes place at the Pinnacle Bank Arena and features Justin Gaethje vs. James Vick in the main event.
Henrique vs. Mark Godbeer was booked as a light heavyweight clash between former heavyweights, but Godbeer will be replaced by Ryan Spann. Henrique (10-4, 1 no-contest) went 2-3 as a heavyweight in the UFC, while Spann (14-5) makes his promotional debut after competing twice in the Octagon at Dana White’s Contender Series, most recently tapping Emiliano Sordi in 26 seconds.
UFC Sao Paulo, headlined by Jimi Manuwa vs. Glover Teixeira, is scheduled for Sept. 22 at the Ibirapuera gymnasium.
