Andy Ruiz and Project Hope brought happiness to Las Vegas families

Former unified heavyweight champion Andy “El Destructor” Ruiz Jr. took a break from training over the weekend to help people in need, as he joined the Project Hope Organization’s initiative and helped distribute 500 bags of meals to families in need in Las Vegas.

Ruiz will return to the ring on Saturday, May 1 to face Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

After the event, Ruiz said, “This is a really important event for my community. All the Mexican people, all of La Raza. There is so much love here, and I just want to show everyone that anything can be done.

“Everything is possible, nobody believed that I could become heavyweight champion and I became the first Mexican heavyweight champion of the world,” he concluded.

In addition to Andy Ruiz Jr., his trainer Eddy Reynoso, world champions Rolando Romero, Tyson Fury, former champions Jessie Vargas, Fernando Vargas, among other members of the boxing family were present.
