ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BUMPER ROUND OF THE AMATEUR MERCOSUR TOURNAMENT

The Dolores Gym was packed with  boxing fans for the 8th stage of the  Mercosur Amateur Boxing Tournament, organized  by the Amateur Boxing Uruguayan Commission  (CUBAP), assisted by  the promotion of Sampson Lewkowicz,  with the full support of the World Boxing Council.

The competition keeps adding facets. A special gold medal is presented at every single stage to the very best fighter. The final prize is a special belt designed by the WBC, but that´s not all, as the best 4 fighters will receive the opportunity of traveling to Mexico in order to train in a high performance gym.

World Boxing Council President, Mauricio Sulaiman is delighted with the response the tournament has attracted:  ”Many thanks and congratulations for the  success of this great tournament, with excellent organization and  coordination,” says Mauricio.

In its latest event, the tournament counted with the participation of Argentinian fighter Profesor Jorge Ocampo, who led the great fighter Cecilia Comunales, presenting  an actualization course.

There was a professional bout, with Andrés Viera (Mercedes) defeating  Gabriel Mensilla (Buenos Aires) by KO in 3 rounds.

Viera had the chance to participate and win the Amateur Tournament.  Now, as  a professional he`s embarking on a successful career.

The fight will take place on September 10 in Artigas. The  championship extends to 12 stages.  WBC President Sulaiman will attend the Grand Finale.

75 kilos: Andy Silva GPP defeated Félix Cardozo;
Adrian González GKO1 defeated Nahuel Colmán.
57 kilos: Damian Sosa GPP defeated Agustín Sena.
54 kilos femenino: Virginia Lopez GPP defeated Agustina Rodríguez.
81 kilos: Jonathan Herrera defeated Claudio Faciolo.
60 kilos: Daniel Fontes GPP defeated Federico Flores.
