By Scott Gilfoid: Anthony Joshua was sounding completely delusional on Tuesday in bragging about himself, saying that it’s going to “take more than a human” to beat him in talking about his unification fight against Joseph Parker on March 31. It’s such a bore when a fighter starts having delusions of grandeur.
I hate to say it, but this could end badly for Joshua on 3/31 when the punches start flying against the 26-year-old Parker.
Joshua is still talking about how he survived against 41-year-old Wladimir Klitschko after getting knocked down and badly hurt him in one instant in the early rounds of their fight on April 29. The fact that Joshua was able to weather the brief storm in the 6th from Wladimir sees to him thinking he’s got special ability that lets him overcome obstacles that other fighters can’t.
“With Klitschko, all those times it told me, it will take more than a human to stop me from where I’m destined to be, and that’s what I learnt,” said Joshua via Sky Sports News.
See what I mean? Joshua is sounding like his past wins over an assortment of soft jobs has royally gone to his head. It’s so bad when you see a fighter overestimating his own talent based on wins over limited talent. Joshua should be thanking his promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport for feeding him so many easy marks in the first 4 years of professional career between 2014 and 2017.
There’s a good chance that Joshua is going to be humbled by Parker on March 31 in their fight at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. 78,000 boxing fans will likely be purchasing tickets for that fight with most of them Joshua fans. Joshua losing in front of that many fans could be a major blow to his career. I guess Joshua can forget about him continuing to blabber about it taking more than a human to beat him unless he wants to classify Parker as an alien from another world.
“Not to walk with sight, because when you’re fatigued you don’t know where you are. I walk with faith in this journey,” said Joshua.
I don’t know what Joshua is talking about here. It sounds like mind-babble. It would be better for Joshua to filter out his thoughts and focus on just training, because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. If he’s making an excuse for why he gassed out against Wladimir, Dillian Whyte and Carlos Takam, he’s going in the wrong direction. Gilfoid’s theory on why Joshua gassed out against those guys is he’s become too much of a bodybuilder. If Joshua was still in the 220-pound region, I doubt he would have gassed out against any of those guys. But with Joshua bulking up to the 250s, he can’t handle it when he’s forced to fight hard for any length of time.
“I cannot wait to have this fight happen on March 31. Cannot wait to train, cannot wait to be back, to put on a great performance, hopefully catch him on the chin and knock him out,” said Joshua.
If Joshua succeeds against Parker, he’ll have more reasons to brag and pat himself on the back 24/7. But if things don’t’ work out, I would hope that he’s able to give Parker credit for his win instead of making excuses about his loss.
