Showtime’s March 9th tripleheader in Deadwood is in need of a transplant, as opening bout competitor Anthony Yigit has withdrawn with his fight with Ivan Baranchyk due to illness. The fight was meant to be a final eliminator for a shot at the winner of Mikey Garcia vs. Sergey Lipinets.
Baranchyk has Akihiro Kondo, Eduard Troyanovsky, and Hiroki Okada just below him in the IBF rankings, but it doesn’t seem likely that Lou DiBella and co. will be able to put together another clash between members of the sanctioning body’s top 10 on a week’s notice. At least Baranchyk can generally entertain no matter who’s in front of him.
Thankfully, Regis Prograis vs. Julius Indongo is still set, as is the fight between Kiwi heavyweight prospect Junior Fa and American Craig Lewis.
