
Apolinario stops Malupangue, cops WBA Asia flyweight title

DAVAO CITY (July 16) — Undefeated Dave “Dobermann” Apolinario stopped Charlie Malupangue in the 4th round to win the vacant World Boxing Association Asia flyweight title last night at the Tabunoc Sports Complex in Talisay City.
Apolinario started the 3rd round with a barrel of punches that almost knockout Malupangue.
But in the 4th round, Apolinario immediately started to work with a series of punches that throw Malupangue’s mouthpiece.
The fight was stopped to allow the referee to pick up the mouthpiece but Malupangue turns his back.
It was ended at 1:31 in the 4th round.
Apolinario of Gen. Santos City now has 15 wins with 10 knockouts while Malupangue of Zamboanga has five setbacks against nine wins and three draws.
