Approaching The Fight: Devin Haney

Showtime Sports unveils a short feature on the lightweight prospect.

Ahead of his ShoBox fight this Friday at 10pm, Showtime Sports unveils a short promotional feature on lightweight prospect Devin Haney (18-0, 12 KOs), the self-proclaimed ‘mini-Mayweather.’ Haney will be taking on Mason Menard in a 10-round lightweight battle.

“My life is crazy. I have a mini-Mayweather life. I got a Jesus piece, you know, a presidential Rolex, somethin’ light, you know. When I really get some money, you really gonna see me flooded, you know, everything!

“Coming up in the era with Floyd you see all the cars, all the jewelry, all the money he has. That’s what I’m working for.

“I was 17-years-old when I turned professional. I just loved to fight at a young age. My first day I sparred, I knocked the kid out of his shoes. Like literally knocked him out of his shoes. I study myself a lot. I’m always trying to get better. I’m always watching film of myself to find a flaw, find something that my opponent can capitalize on.

“18-0, 12 knockouts. 52-0, 53-0, 54-0, I wanna eat Floyd Mayweather’s record. I been calling out all the big names in my weight class. A lot of them have been turning me down. The guy I’m fighting, his name is Mason Menard, on paper he’s my toughest test and after this fight I wanna fight for a world title.

“I’m not gonna stop until I am the face of boxing. I wanna go down with legends: Sugar Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard, Charley Burley, Muhammad Ali, Floyd Mayweather. They can’t deny me.”
