JAPANESE Nihito Arakawa stopped Filipino challenger Marbon Bodiongan via a technical knockout in the 6th round to retain his WBO Asia Pacific lightweight title last July 11 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Referee Yuji Fukushi stopped the fight in 1:18 of the 6th round.
It was the first title defense by Arakawa, who won the vacant crown via a unanimous decision win over another Filipino Anthony Sabalde last January 31 at the same venue.
Arakawa, 35, improved his record to 30 wins with 18 knockouts against six losses and one draw, while the 23-year old Bodiongan dropped to 14 wins-6 losses-2 draws, 11 KOs record.
