This Saturday, at the Universum Gymnasium in Hamburg, Germany, the Armenian Artem Harutyunyan (11-0, 7 KOs) knocked out Spanish Samuel Molina (16-1, 7 KOs) in the fifth round to win the lightweight International World Boxing Council title.
The Spaniard was having a good fight and seemed to dominate, but just when the German was in a tight spot, a left hook to the chin from him at 2 minutes and 31 seconds into the fifth round knocked out Molina.
“I knew that my opponent was young, wild and motivated and he wanted to give everything to defeat me. I was able to counter him and finish the fight. I am very happy and excited to win the WBC International title, ”said Harutyunyan, who won a bronze medal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
