Despite one-sided losses in two of his last four fights and being just a month removed from his 38th birthday, former middleweight and super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham isn’t ready to call it quits yet. He’s set to face Denmark’s Patrick Nielsen on April 28th in Offenburg, Germany.
Abraham (46-6, 30 KO) appears to be a solved game at this point, as neither Gilberto Ramirez nor Chris Eubank Jr. struggled at all against him. He’s still got power when he bothers to throw, though, plus the cliché “veteran savvy” endemic to experienced former champions.
Nielsen (29-2, 14 KO) is definitely more in his wheelhouse than Ramirez and Eubank, at least. The Dane got thrashed by John Ryder back in October and came up short in a title bid against Dmitrii Chudinov in 2014.
Still, it can be fun to watch two flawed fighters go at it. Decent matchup for what it is.
