World Boxing Council female super bantamweight champion, Alicia Ashley from Jamaica, will be defending her belt this Saturday in Flint, Michigan against Fatuma Zarika from Kenya.
It tops the bill “Fight for Flint” presented by Don Elbaum, in order to benefit this region of the city, which has been affected by a serious water issue for 2 years, after lead residues were discovered, prompting a state of emergency alert.
Alicia Ashley confirmed she’s very happy and proud to be able to defend her title at this event: “This card is to help a good cause. Water problems in this city are grave and being able to help in this matter, is a great honor for me.”
Ashley has a record of 23 victories, 10 defeats and 1 draw, she will be facing a similarly talented fighter with 27 victories, 12 defeats and 2 draws. Amazing Alicia Ashley is 49 years old, while her rival is 31.
