Colby Covington has major gripes against the UFC and Dana White as of the moment. All of it stems from the company’s decision to have Kamaru Usman fight Tyron Woodley for the title at UFC 235 in March, instead.
“Chaos” was so displeased about the situation that he put White on blast, while also calling for his release from the UFC.
Let’s be honest: Dana, you don’t got the balls to release me. If you’re saying all of this stuff to the media, then release me. But you ain’t got the balls. You know I’m too valuable.
They’re not going to do it. They realize my value now. They realize how valuable I am. They know that I sell. They know that every single fighter in the welterweight division wants to fight me. They know that I’m the draw right now at welterweight. I made this division relevant.
Covington seemingly held on to White’s previous guarantee that he will indeed be next in line to fight Woodley, which for Ben Askren was not a very smart thing to do.
@ColbyCovMMA I realized you were dumb, but please please don’t tell me you were dumb enough to really trust DanaColby Covington✔@ColbyCovMMA.@danawhite REAL MEN aren’t promise makers, they’re promise keepers.77911:01 AM – Jan 8, 2019Twitter Ads info and privacy151 people are talking about this
Askren had his disagreements with White in the past, which were eventually sorted out and led to his UFC signing last October.
As for Covington, he may still get his chance to fight Woodley after Usman, which the champion expects to happen in June.
