ASTROLABIO TO FIGHT TEJONES IN MARBEL JULY 24

DAVAO CITY (pna) July 29 — Unbeaten Vincent Astrolabio of MP Davao Gym will now be fighting Joe Tejones of Valencia City on July 24 at the South Cotabato Sports Complex in Koronadal City.
Tejones (8-3-0, 4 KOs) is a replacement for original opponent Raul Yu of ALA Stable, who got injured in training last week.
The fight, however, will no longer be a championship for the vacant Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (Minproba) junior bantamweight crown,
Astrolabio (8-0, 7 KOs) previously stopped Nicardo Calamba by a technical knockout in the second round last May 12 during the GAB Philippine Boxing Convention held at the Waterfront Insular Hotel in Davao City.
The 20-year old hard puncher from General Santos City also knocked out a veteran Renante Suacasa in the 8thround last December 17 at the Robinson’s Mall in Gensan. Astrolabio broke the jaw of Suacasa which resulted to his early retirement in boxing.
Tejones, on the other hand, previously stopped Raymond Dayham in the 5th round last May 27 in Valencia City.
Tejones fought but lost for the WBC Youth World super flyweight title by a unanimous decision to defending champion Pathinya Phumidet last March 31 in Bangkok.
The Filipino southpaw also suffered a knockout to Hinata Maruta in their battle for the WBC Youth world bantamweight title last Nov 23 in Osaka, Japan.
But Tejones bounced back by knocking out Michael Estrada in the 6th round last January 29 at the Iligan City Central Market.
