Turkey’s Avni Yildirim (21-1-0) outscored experienced fighter Lolenga Mock (42-15-1) to defend the international World Boxing Council’s super middleweight crown at the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
Yildirim started fast and knocked Mock down in the first round. In the following rounds Mock also showed his power and striking effectiveness. After a close and hard fought contest, Yildirim won by majority decision (113-112,116-111 and 113-113).
Avni has been working with Mike Tyson’s former coach, Stacey McKinley. He aspires to be the first Turkish world champion in professional boxing.
