INGLEWOOD — Azat Hovhannisyan defeated Sergio Frias by a unanimous decision to capture the vacant WBC Continental Americas super bantamweight title last Saturday at The Forum in the undercard of the Jorge Linares-Luke Campbell title fight.
Hovhannisyan survived a cut on the right due to an accidental headbutt in the 9th round.
Judges Max DeLuca and Zac Young both scored it 100-90 while judgte Don Griffin saw it 98-92.
Hovhannisyan impoved his record to 13 wins against only two losses while Frias dropped to 19-8-2 win-loss-draw slate.
