A dash of name recognition and local flavor have been added to Bellator 187.
The company rounded out the main card for Nov. 10 event at Dublin’s 3Arena by announcing a pair of fights Thursday: Kevin Ferguson Jr. vs. Fred Freeman and Sinead Kavanagh vs. Maria Casanova.
Ferguson (1-1) is nicknamed “Baby Slice,” an homage to his father, the late and much-missed Kimbo Slice. The Miami-based welterweight earned his first career victory at Bellator 179, with a first-round TKO of Darryal Griffin. Freeman carries a 1-0 pro record into the 165-pound catchweight bout.
Kavanagh (4-2) is a 30-year-old Dublin native and a former Irish national amateur boxing champion. She’s lost two Bellator fights in a row heading to her featherweight fight with Casanova (2-5-1). Casanova, a native of France, has dropped four straight bouts, the past three via decision.
Bellator 187 will be headlined by A.J. McKee, a substitute for James Gallagher, against Brian Moore.
