Abraham Khalil Mitra, also known as Baham, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Games and Amusement Board (GAB).
Mitra, former governor of Palawan, is a known cockfighting aficionado. He is an active member of cockbreeders association in Palawan where his family maintains a breeding farm.
He is the youngest son of the late and former House of Representatives Speaker Ramon Mitra Jr from whom he inherited his passion for cockfighting, one of the industries regulated by the GAB.
A trusted source at the GAB office told Sports Illustrated Philippines the appointment letter was brought by a representative from Malacanang to inform the personnel in the government regulatory body for professional sports and games like boxing, mixed martial arts, basketball and cockfighting.
