Terry Brazier handed Rhys McKee the second loss of his young career and simultaneously stole his lightweight title with a unanimous decision win in the main event of BAMMA London on Thursday night in London’s York Hall.

Already the promotion’s welterweight champion, Brazier became one of the few double-weight champions in the history of the BAMMA organization with the victory.

Speaking after the fight, the newly crowned champion praised his 22-year-old counterpart.

“That was the best fighter I’ve come up against by far,” said Brazier. “I thought it was going to be a lot easier than it was. Props to the kid, he’s a great fighter. I’m sure at some stage he’ll get the title back.”

Brazier immediately looked to take the fight to the ground from the first bell. He searched for numerous short chokes, but ended up giving up mount as he attempted to take the fight to the ground for a second time. McKee looked like he almost had Brazier out towards the end of the round — the Londoner’s head went purple as the Northern Irish prospect latched onto a rear-naked choke.

Brazier found his way to mount two minutes into the second and landed several clusters of punches. He smothered his younger opponent as he tried to get back into striking range.

After some competitive exchanges in the opening minute of the final stanza, Brazier went back to forcing the grappling exchanges for the remainder of the fight. Again, he managed to dominate proceedings from top control.

In a co-main event, billed as the ‘Battle of the Pretty Boys’, Anthony Taylor’s takedowns and ground and pound proved too much for Mike Hales in their catchweight bout.

Hales marks the second undefeated prospect Taylor has dispatched in his first two bouts under the BAMMA banner. Despite having a point deducted in the for inadvertent head butts from top position, Taylor eased to a unanimous decision win as he easily controlled the 5-0 prospect over the 15 minutes.

Previously undefeated heavyweight Chi Lewis-Parry reportedly suffered a torn ACL as he fought to a draw with Polish veteran Lukasz Parobiec.

The towering kickboxer chopped at Parobiec with oblique kicks over the first five minutes, but the Pole had success landing multiple overhand lefts and body shots in the second.

After a number of warnings from referee, Marc Goddard, Parry had a point taken in the third for poking Parobiec. Following the penalty, Parry sprang into action and forced a stumble from his durable opponent with a head kick.
