Argentine ex-WBA champ Jonathan Barros was awarded a split decision (116-112, 117-111, 113-115) over Japanese warrior Satoshi “Bazooka” Hosono in an IBF featherweight eliminator to decide the next mandatory challenger against the titleholder Lee Selby (in attendance with his manager Chris Sanigar) over twelve hard-fought rounds on Monday in Tokyo, Japan. The crafty Argentine will meet Selby with the IBF belt on the line, but he sustained a deep gash over the right eyebrow late in the bout, so he will be unlikely to have a mandatory shot at Selby within this year.
