BASANG IS NEW MINPROBA PREXY


DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Boxing promoter-manager Jilson Basang of MB Boxing Promotion from Carmen, Davao del Norte is now the new president of the Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (Minproba).
Basang succeeded lady boxing promoter-manager Yolanda Alfante of Shock Punch Promotions, who is now based in Bacoor, Cavite.
Basang, who is also a civil engineer, was unopposed during an election held last May 13 during the closing of the 3rd Philippine Boxing Convention at the Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City.
“I am humbled by the trust and confidence of our Philippine Games and Amusement Board Chairman Khalil Mitra and my fellow boxing promoters and managers, ring officials and boxers,” said Basang.
Basang and the other new officers were immediately inducted by Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Chairman Abraham Kahlil “Baham” Mitra. It was witnessed by GAB Commissioners Fritz Gaston and Eduard Trinidad.
Veteran boxing promoter-manager Leonil Lazarito of Leolet Boxing Stable from Valencia City, Bukidnon is the elected Vice President while Lito delos Reyes of ForePlay Promotions is the secretary.
Rafael Jimenez of RCJ Boxing Stable from Iligan City is the treasurer while Joseph Delopere of Ivan Josh Boxing Foundation from Agusan del Sur is the auditor.
Wowie Lalanto of WLS Boxing Stable also from Valencia City is the public relations officer.
The Directors are Iligan’s Arnold Palafox (Region 10), Davao’s Raides Neri of MP Davao Stable (Region 11), General Santos City’s Jim Claude Manangquil of Sanman Promotions (Region 12) and Surigao’s Jo-Ay Lopez (CARAGA Region).
Basang said that he will immediately “start to amend the reforms right away for the welfare of the Filipino Boxers.”
“I am so overwhelmed and amazed by the trust and support given to me,” he said.
Basang wants to adopt the change of Chairman Mitra wants them to do based on the vision and mandate of President Rody Duterte.
“I will start to amend right away for reforms in boxing Industry especially in Mindanao,” said Basang.
“I want the welfare of our boxers first! This is my priority as also a boxing promoter and manager that’s my vision and that’s what in my heart” said Basang.
