Liverpool’s Tony Bellew is the World Boxing Council’s Fighter of The Month, after blasting Ilunga Makabu, from Congo, to conquer the WBC cruiserweight championship.
Bellew defeated Makabu with a stunning KO in the third round, after recovering from a hard knock down himself in the first round. The match took place on May 29th in Everton Football Club’s turf, at Goodison Park. A dream come true for Tony, who is an avid fan of “The Toffees.”
Mexican, Francisco Vargas, was presented with honorific mention for the highly competitive draw he had, fighting his compatriot, Orlando “Siri” Salido, defending his WBC super featherweight title.
